This is the transcript of an interview, which I hope to eventuate into a series investigating creative careers and their practitioners.
This interview was with the amazing Mark D. O’Dwyer, senior corporate finance manager, entrepreneur and self-published poet. Mark, who has always been a passionate and talented poet, works full time in corporate finance.
In addition to this Mark dually runs a Latin Dance School, ‘Let’s Dance Co.’, which is focused on Wedding Dance lessons. Mark has however ingeniously combined his poetic hobby with his Wedding Dance business and provides personalised romantic poetry each Wedding Couple’s big day, to be used in their Wedding Booklets, Vows, Reception Speeches, etc.
Mark’s poetic scope is large. He has worked on poetry across topics from weddings to pets, from philosophy to depression and from romance to catastrophes!
So when I caught up with Mark I asked him about his career, the opportunities and challenges it had presented him with and the way he had faced them. I got some very interesting answers that make this transcript a must read for anyone interested in taking up a writer’s career.
